Our story
Universities for Nottingham (UfN) was established in 2020 by Nottingham’s two universities and a network of civic partners. Together, they shared a commitment to supporting the long-term success of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Together, we recognised the value of collaboration. By working together, we could tackle local challenges and create opportunities to improve prosperity, sustainability, health, wellbeing and social inclusion across the region.
In 2022, partners came together to refresh the UfN Civic Agreement, reaffirming our shared ambitions and strengthening our collective commitment to place, people and communities. The renewed agreement reflected the evolving needs of the region. It set out a clear direction for how we would work together to deliver positive change.
Today, UfN continues to build on these foundations. While the Civic Agreement remains an important statement of shared purpose, our focus is on turning ambition into action. We bring together expertise, resources and networks through collaborative programmes, partnerships and initiatives. This helps us create meaningful and lasting impact for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Our impact
Together, the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University make a significant contribution to the region’s economy, communities and culture. Through our combined strengths in research, education, innovation, student activity and civic engagement, we create opportunities for people and organisations across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. By working together, we can achieve more, supporting skills, health and wellbeing, community resilience, innovation and climate action.
